Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute (CHORI)
Summer Student Research Program (SSRP) for High School Students
The goal of the CHORI SSRP is to provide research training opportunities for both High School and Undergraduate students from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds to increase ethnic diversity in the health sciences.
The Program provides students with a research training experience to stimulate interest in pursuing a career in the basic, biological, clinical and/or behavioral sciences in a friendly and nurturing environment.

This year our 9-week summer program runs from June 10 to August 9, 2019. All selected interns will work one-on-one with a practicing scientist on meaningful, independent research projects. Interns are also exposed to a variety of engaging topics such as: medical ethics, conflict of interest, cultural competency,neuro-cognitive development, career planning, and more. Near-peer support and networking among interns within the program and with their mentors who share similar interests and passions enhance the experience and aid with career decision making.

Internship stipend: $2,500
US citizens with a demonstrated interest in the biological and/or health sciences.
Students who are under-represented in the sciences from diverse and
disadvantaged backgrounds are preferentially selected as we aim to increase the ethnic diversity in the health sciences.
Applications are due: February 8, 2019
