Student Pick-Up & Drop-Off

With so many students at Foothill, mild traffic is inevitable with everyone converging to drop-off and pick-up students at the same time. We all want pick-up and drop-off to go as quickly, safely, and smoothly as possible, so please adhere to the following guidelines.

Front Loop
When entering the front loop, do not pick-up or drop-off students in the red zone. This is not a loading and unloading zone. Stopping here is a major cause of the backups that occur in the loop and on Foothill Road. Loading or unloading in this area may subject you to a $100 fine.

Pull all the way forward before you stop to pick-up/drop-off students in either the LEFT (curbside) lane or the RIGHT lane. These areas are highlighted with green lines in the above picture. The MIDDLE lane is for exiting the lot only.  If you stop in the right lane, you may block parking stalls so if someone needs to enter or exit a parking stall and you are in the way, please allow room for them to proceed by safely repositioning your vehicle if possible.

Again, do not drop off or pick up students in the middle lane. Only enter this lane after you have dropped off or picked up your student(s).

Senior Lot
The senior lot is not to be used for pick up after school until after 3:10pm.

Junior Lot
Please do not park in the aisles while waiting for students after school. Park in a stall and inform the student(s) to come to the vehicle. Once the student(s) has entered the vehicle, proceed in exiting the lot. Be patient and safe! There are a lot of students that use the lot daily. They will be walking to cars after schools. Stay alert!

Additional Notes
  • Stay off your phones while driving. Our student safety is of most importance.
  • Do not leave your car unattended in a drop off zone. Park in a stall so that you are not blocking other drivers.
  • DO NOT stop along red curbs to drop off or pick up students. It is illegal to stop at red curbs. Police have been ticketing parents who stop in red zones, such as the ones near the bus stop and right as you enter the drive-thru loop. Tickets for a red zone violation can be as high as $100.
  • Students may be dropped off and picked up at white curbs only. There are white curbs in the drive-thru parking lot, in front of the school on Foothill Road and just north/south of the school on Foothill Road. No parking in white zones before and after school. Parking is legal in white zones only as marked and after drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Do not block the crosswalk or blue handicapped zone in the loop.
  • Remind students who use the outer drop-off/pick-up lane to be extra cautious when crossing traffic to get to the sidewalk.
  • Common courtesy: Pull forward, pull forward, pull forward so that other vehicles can enter drive-thru loop or wait in white zones.

Thanks to everyone for reviewing these laws and rules to help traffic move safely and smoothly around our school.
