8/23/21- Due to the fires up north, the Bill Springhorn Invitational has been rescheduled from Sept. 3rd to Oct. 1st. In its place our team will be attending the Dave Zacharias Early Bird Invitational in Atwater, CA on Saturday September 4th. It is VERY important that parents get their district approval so that we can attend meets. No transportation means no runners at meets. HELP!!!!
 
8/16/21- FHS Cross Country is pleased to announce the addition of alumni Chad Linke to our coaching team. Chad is a former FHS runner and team leader. He is currently attending Las Positas Junior College majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Chad brings a strong background in running, extensive first aid, life saving, and CPR skills as well as an intimate knowledge of the Foothill Program. Please join me in congratulating Chad on his new role and our team on the addition of a valuable mentor. WELCOME CHAD!!!

7/13/21- It's Official, there will NOT be a Monte Vista Invitational this year. The event has been deferred to 2022. 
 
6/29/21- HOLIDAY SCHEDULE- no summer runs on Friday 7/2 and Monday 7/5 due to the holiday weekend. We will return to our regular schedule on Wednesday 7/7/21 for a practice at 9am at Patelco Park at the playground behind the baseball diamond just off Valley.
 
6/17/21- SCHEDULE CHANGE FOR NEXT WEEK!!! Next week we will be changing the schedule due to my traveling commitments. We will meet:
 
TUES 22nd- Muirwood Park 9am
THURS 24th- BACK of the Sports Park 9am
 
The week of June 28th we will go back to our normal schedule. Hopefully, you newbies will get to meet our one and only lovely Coach Decker!
 
6/14/21- Lettering times for this season- Girls 3 miles in 22 minutes, Boys 3 miles in 18 minutes. Varsity is top seven runners of each gender, however, you do not need to be Varsity to Letter.
 
6/10/21- Summer runs go from 9am to 10:30-45am depending on the day. Please meet at:
 
Mondays- Muirwood Park (Picnic Area)
Wednesdays-  Patelco Park at the playground behind the baseball diamond, off Valley Ave.
Fridays- The VERY BACK of the Ken Mercer Sports Park                 
 
6/9/21- Website updates for the 2021-22 season have begun, please continue to check the site for updates as I work through the admin portion.
 
2/15/21- Lettering times for an approximately 3 mile course- Boys remain at 18:00 minutes while girls (due to squad development) need to hit 22:30 minutes. *** Fair Warning- next season girls will need to make 22:00 minutes for a three mile course.*** I am proud of our girls. We have become more competitive!!!
 
7/30/20- We will be at Oak Hill Park tomorrow, NOT the Sports Park. I'm sorry to keep making changes but... Covid. See you at 9am!!!
 
7/22/20- Received word that coaches are asked to finish off their summer programs. We will continue Open Runs until Monday Aug. 10th. Practice this Friday 24th will be at the BACK of the Sports Park, 9-10:30am. Next week will be as follows:
 
July 27th- Muirwood Park
July 29th- Patelco Park
July 31st- Back of the Sports Park
 
7/21/20- There IS practice tomorrow, Wednesday the 22nd of July. I'd like the team to have an opportunity to ask questions and sort through their feelings. This is new territory for us ALL. We are a team and we will get through this as a team. See you at Patelco Park 9am. Please allow extra time at the end for a good chat and Q & A on what we are looking at. Remember, mask up and use good cow etiquette.
 
7/16/20-
 
In what may be an excess of caution, Decker and I want to see what CIF comes back with on Monday. We feel that can help give us the clarity, safe guidelines, and legal standing that we feel comfortable going forward. Therefore, we'll be canceling in person practice TOMORROW and MONDAY and seeing what CIF hands down.
 
Please know that the team is doing an EXCELLENT job masking, social distancing and still managing to work hard and be safe. Your coaches just need to feel that we are doing right by YOU, our team, and by our families and their needs and safety.
 
We hope that this is a blip and that we will resume practice Wednesday July 22nd. Please watch for more communication on moving forward. 
 
7/12/20- This week's practice schedule:

Hi Team and Families!
 
We are switching things around this week. Here's what to plan on and where...
 
Monday- Meet at FHS Senior Lot by the Band Room 
Wednesday- Patelco Park by playground and baseball diamond 
Friday- Shadow Cliffs...parents please drop off at Main Entrance on Stanley Blvd. Those kids driving themselves, please park at BMX park and run down Stanley to meet us at the Main Entrance. Shadow Cliffs is only open to foot traffic.
 
 
All practices are 9am to 10:30-45am. I can't stay past about 10:30am- just can't stand that long yet. Please let me know if there are any questions :-)

 
7/5/20- Schedule change due to Coach's surgery:

Monday- Run on your own- 5-10 min warmup, dynamic, (3) strides. New runners 3-5 miles moderate pace, experienced runners 6-8 miles, cool down, stretches 5-10 core.
 
Wednesday- 9am Patelco Park- see you there!
 
Friday- 9am Muirwood Park (yes this IS a location change)
 
6/24/20- just a reminder- masks are now MANDATORY except for when actually running. We will be meeting 6/26 at the BACK end of the Ken Mercer Sports Park 9am. Bring your water, your mask, your bubble choice and your paperwork :-) Don't worry- we will get through this as a team.
 
6/17/20- Unfortunately Shadow Cliffs is not ready to open... so we will meet at the Ken Mercer Sports Park this Friday. 9am until 10:45am or so. Please meet at the first parking lot at Hopyard and Parkside. See you then!!!
 
6/4/20- Due to shifting District policies we are not able to meet on campus until July, so we will meet at Muirwood Park instead. Summer schedule will be (until further notice):

8/20/19- Schedules announced for Bill Springhorn Invitational in Redding and Monte Vista
 
Redding:
 
5:30am- cars collect athletes and leave from FHS front loop
9am- arrive at Shasta College 11555 Old Oregon Trail, Redding, CA, check in, warmups
10:30am- Varsity Boys 3.0 miles
10:55am- Varsity Girls 3.0 miles
11:25am- JV Boys 2.0 miles
11:45am- JV Girls 2.0 miles
12:10pm- Rising Stars (Freshman) Boys 2.0 miles
 
We'll do awards and wrap things up then head to Water Works Park for lunch and slides. Athletes? Parents can bring money to buy lunch or brown bag it. The park is about a five minute drive from the course at 151 N. Boulder Drive, Redding.

Please plan to be at Oak Hill Park in Danville at least one hour before your start time to receive your bib and warm up. Team will be dismissed from school at 2:15pm. If you are a later race and want to finish you school day that is fine. I do hope that ALL athletes will stay for as MUCH of the meet as possible to support their teammates.

Wednesdays- BMX Bike Park 3320 Stanley Blvd., Pleasanton. We'll run into Shadow Cliffs as warmups, do dynamics then work out. Pick up will be 10:45am from the BMX Park 
Fridays- Senior lot of FHS
 
7/25/19- JUST ADDED- FHS XC will be running in the Bill Springhorn Classic at Shasta College, Redding, California on Friday August 30th. Water slides to follow- team bonding!!!  
 
6/20/2019- For optional Summer Training we'll be meeting at 9am- 10:30am on the following days, in the following places:

Wednesdays- Golden Eagle entrance of the Pleasanton Ridge

5/15/19- Hi there, Falcons!!! Just want to make sure that you all are planning to start training in the summer on Wednesday June 19th. We'll meet at FHS 9am by the band rooms, bordering the Senior Lot. Summer Training is OPTIONAL, but it's a great way to get to know your team and start the season off RIGHT!!! This is going to be a FABULOUS season and I look forward to seeing you all!!!
 
8/30/18-  Our first Pasta Feed!!! It will be Monday 6pm Sept. 3rd at Sam & Will Symons' house prior to our first meet at Monte Vista Sept. 4th. Watch the Remind App for more info. Thank you to our team captains: Kate, Sam M., Shrey, and Sam. S. for their hard work in putting this together! Awesome sauce, guys!!!
 
8/25/18- Team Pictures have been scheduled for Tuesday, October 2nd at the park behind the baseball fields. Athletes should come in uniform, looking their prettiest. We will not hold practice that day, but athletes should plan on running 4-6 miles at 75% of race pace on their own. Watch for order envelopes to come home as we get closer to the date. 
 
8/25/18- BANQUET DATE CHANGE- due to a conflict our end of season banquet/awards night has been changed. The NEW date is Wednesday, November 7th from 7-8:30pm in the small gym. 
 
8/15/18- I have uploaded the Athletes Handbook and 2018 Survey to the Athletes Page of this site. Please review the Handbook. You and your parent need to sign the last page and return it to Coach Erika by Monday August 20th. Likewise, please complete the Survey and return to Coach Erika by August 20th. It will help me learn a bit more about you and, hopefully, be that much better of a coach to you.
