Art Students Honored for Work

Foothill's extremely talented art students have been hard at work this year on multiple projects, many of which have recently been recognized with awards.
Caroline Kim received an honorable mention (third place) for her entry in the Congressional Art Competition. Her work will hang in Congressman Jerry McNerney's office for a full year. Caroline's art work was honored by McNerney at a May ceremony at Tracy's Grand Theatre Center for the Arts.
The outstanding art work of seven Foothill students was chosen to grace the walls of the three Zachary's Pizza restaurants in the East Bay. This contest was open to the entire East Bay, including professional artists. The Foothill students' work will be exhibited in one of the three stores for the next two year. In addition, each student won a $100 gift certificate and other prizes. Students whose art was chosen are Nari Kim, Katie Jang, Anjuli Papineau, Annika Ragsdale, Wesley Jensen, Eddie Andreini-Rodriguez and Pinhwa Su.
Natalie Vaughan and Angie Son won top visual arts honors in the YEA! awards. YEA! is the Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council's Youth Excellence in Arts Awards. Natalie won first place and $500, while Angie came in second and got $300. Several other talented students entered this tough competition and received other forms of recognition.
Artists Adrian Wong and Esteban Garcia were featured in a Contra Costa Times newspaper article about their handmade T-shirts that they sell and donate to organizations to benefit the poor. The duo has currently teamed up to paint a campus mural near the F building.
Last, but not least ... The People's Choice Award from Foothill's Art Show went to Esteban Garcia for his work, S.F. Tour.
