April & May Students of the Month

Congratulations to senior Alexandra “Lexi” Baker for being named Foothill’s April Student of the Month.

Lexi has worked hard during her high school years to balance school work and volunteer endeavors, all while maintaining stellar grades.

“Lexi is one of the most positive, energetic and dedicated students I have ever encountered,” English teacher Donna DeGiobbi said. “Lexi does not just want to learn the material in a class in order to perform well on her assignments and get into an esteemed college. She is also passionate about educational pursuits and has a true desire and thirst for knowledge and understanding of the world she knows, and that which she has yet to be introduced to.”

Lexi is a section leader in Foothill’s award-winning band, member of the French National Society, part of the wind ensemble and orchestra and has been in the California Scholarship Federation all four years of high school.

“Lexi is exceedingly conscientious, always trying to do her best,” math teacher Scott Gorsuch said. “She excels because of her dedication to the process of learning.”

In the community, Lexi has been a Girl Scout for 13 years and is a member of the Pleasanton community concert band. She’s had an internship with Congressman Jerry McNerney and has worked with the American Cancer Society, Open Heart Kitchen and Special Olympics. She also manages to hold down a job at Limited Too and Justice.

“Lexi demonstrates excellent academic performance, as well as strong initiative, motivation and leadership,’‘ fashion teacher Barbara Correia said. “She is well liked and respected by her peers. She is not frustrated by a difficult task. Instead, she takes on the challenge, asking questions and figuring out how to accomplish it. Lexi has excelled in the classroom, always going above and beyond. She is bright, motivated and professional, as well as a young lady of character.”

Congratulations, Lexi!
