Student Garners Multiple Honors

Congratulations to junior Abhiraj Chowdhury for his recent run of awards for various academic contests.
Abhiraj won first place in the district and a regional award covering California and Nevada for his entry in the Fleet Reserve Association's Americanism essay contest. Regional winners will advance to the national competition.
Abhiraj took second place in the Veterans of Foreign Wars' Voice of Democracy and third place in the Optimist International essay contests. He excelled as third-place winner at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's Tri-Valley Science & Engineering Fair for his research on obesity in adolescents. He further submitted his research in the Young Epidemiology Scholars' national competition and the Davidson Institute's Fellows Scholarships program.
Abhiraj was chosen as a Hamilton Citizenship Achievement Award gold winner. He will receive $500 for college and has his biography posted on the group's web site. The awards are given to college-bound juniors who exhibit passion and commitment to their interests.
Finally, Abhiraj was nominated for the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.
