The Best Buddies Club was recognized for displaying the character of "respect" as part of the school district's ongoing Community of Character program.
The school district highlights six character traits throughout the school year -- responsibility, compassion, self-discipline, honesty, respect and integrity. Foothill's Best Buddies Club was chosen as an outstanding example of "respect" for March and April, when that particular trait was highlighted. The school board singled out the Foothill club as being exemplary when it comes to respect. The recognition was given at the May 13 board meeting.
Club members honored include Druthi Ghanta, president; Olivia Andrus, vice president; Kathleen Lawrence, secretary; Kaiti Capurro, historian; Michael Guthrie, public relations; and teacher Gail Myers, adviser.
The mission of the club and the international program with which it's affiliated is to provide social opportunities for people with disabilities. Best Buddies participants build a more inclusive world, one friendship at a time.
Congratulations to the Best Buddies Club for this important honor!
