The Olympiad is a six-question, nine-hour essay and proof exam given over the course of two days. It is the final round of the American Math Competition series of contests. This year, only 266 students qualified out of more than 350,000 students who competed.

Yujin and Akshay are competing for the honor of representing the U.S. as part of a six-member team in the International Math Olympiad in Cape Town, South Africa, in July.

In addition to the Olympiad honor, Yujin and Akshay were recognized by the Mathematical Association of America for their achievement in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC12), the nation's oldest and most prestigious math contest. Both students made the distinguished honor roll, which represents the top 1 percent of all participants in the U.S. and worldwide. Yujin also made the list of the top 20 highest scorers in the U.S.
