Orchestra Wins Prestigious Title

Foothill's string orchestra won a highly coveted superior rating at a recent California Music Educators Association festival in Castro Valley.

The 30-member Foothill orchestra competed against dozens of groups from throughout Alameda County at the two-day festival. Three judges, all college professors, unanimously awarded the Foothill orchestra a superior rating, the highest rating a performance group can receive.

"One judge even tracked us down after the performance to tell us how impressed he was with the group," director Joshua Butterfield said. "Needless to say, the students were very excited about their success. They have really done a great job."

You can hear Foothill's talented musicians perform Tuesday, May 28 at 7 p.m. at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore. Both the band and orchestra will perform. Tickets may be purchased online or at the door. Prices have not yet been set.
