Principal's Message

Hello Foothill families,

In my quest for continuous growth as a professional, I have thought about and frequently been encouraged to consider taking up administrative positions at the district level. However, I cannot think of anything I enjoy more than working with kids, teachers and school staff at the site level. So, after nine years at Foothill, three as vice principal and six as principal, I have decided that it is time for me to seek a new challenge in my career and have accepted an offer from the Fremont Union High School District to assume the role of principal of Lynbrook High School in Sunnyvale beginning July 1.

I have immensely enjoyed my time at Foothill and will always "bleed blue," but next year this will be as a parent and not as the principal of the school. The last six years have been very challenging for all of us in education, but I believe that our incredible students, staff, parents and community have negotiated these difficult times with passion, vision, commitment and class. I could not be prouder of our school and what we have achieved during my term as principal. I feel that this is the right time for me to pass on the reins  to a new person who can work with you all to take our school on the next leg of our journey of continuous improvement to the next level of excellence.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your support for me as a Foothill administrator for the last nine years and for your commitment and dedication to our students and our whole school community.

Thanks, and GO FALCONS!

John Dwyer
