DECA Students Advance to International Conference

Foothill's DECA students are white hot this year, winning high marks at regional and state competitions and advancing to the prestigious international competition.

Eleven DECA students performed so incredibly well at the recent state contest that they qualified for the international competition in Salt Lake City in April. The high-achieving students are:
Shreya Arora
Sahib Bathla
Jon Hill
Emma Longridge
Shab Mashhoon
Bridget Moran
Ayesha Omarali
Siyang Qiu
Kaitlyn Su
Shruti Thundiyil
Sahil Wadhwa

Foothill had 44 students compete at the State Career Development Conference in Irvine in late February. Students competed in a variety of events, ranging from written projects to role-play presentations. Foothill won more than 50 awards.

Students who won top overall honors in their events are:
Second place -- Emma Longridge & Kaitlyn Su, fashion promotion plan
Third place -- Shabnam Mashhoon, hospitality professional selling
Third place -- Shabnam Mashhoon & Jon Hill, hospitality team decision making

Foothill's Quiz Bowl team -- Sofia Popat, Shreya Arora, Jon Hill and Dharam Amin -- went four rounds to take second place in that event. Amador Valley High School won the first-place title. Quiz Bowl is a Jeopardy-style contest with marketing and business questions.

Congratulations to all of Foothill's amazingly talented DECA students.
