DECA Students Win Honors

Foothill students went up against the best and brightest Northern California DECA student and walked away with dozens of top awards.

The Northern California District Career Development Conference was held at the San Ramon Marriott last weekend. About 1,300 high school students from all over Northern California competed in 36 different events and categories, ranging from retail merchandising to sports and entertainment marketing. Foothill had 48 students take part in the competition.

"It was a great weekend," DECA adviser Tammy Raaker said. "I was truly proud of all my students for their display of team spirit and character. We know how to win and lose with class at Foothill, and that truly matters the most to me."

Students will next take their skills to the state competition in Irvine in late February. Students who qualify in the top three in their category will advance to the international competition in Salt Lake City.
