Foothill Golfer Plays in Championship

Foothill sophomore Nicolo' Galletti was among one of the youngest players to ever compete in the 110-year history of the U.S. Amateur Championship when he played in the event in August.

Nicolo', 15, played in the junior division of the 2010 championship, held this year at Chambers Bay just outside Tacoma, Washington. The championship was held August 23-29 at the relatively new course with breathtaking views of the picturesque Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.

Nicolo', who started playing golf at age 4, was on Foothill's golf team his freshman year and will try out for the team this year. His home course is at the Oakhurst Country Club in Clayton, but he often plays with Foothill team members and friends at Castlewood Country Club.

It was quite an honor for Nicolo' to be chosen to play in the U.S. Amateur Championship, considered the most prestigious amateur golf event in the world. He was one of 312 players who qualified for the championship out of more than 8,000 amateurs who applied.

Congratulations, Nicolo'!
