Falcons Take On Dons for State Title

UPDATE: Amador beat Foothill 12-1 to win the championship on June 5

Foothill's incredible varsity baseball players left fans on both sides stunned when the the Falcons took down the California High School Grizzlies for the chance to compete at the North Coast Section finals.

Pleasanton's already heated cross-town rivalry will be ratcheted up several notches as the Falcons take on the Dons for the Division 1 championship title. The game will be held Saturday, June 5 at 4 p.m. at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon.

Foothill had an amazing rally in the bottom of the seventh inning at Wednesday's game against Cal. Michael Theofanopolous hit a walk-off, two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring a 3-2 victory for No.2 seeded Foothill over visiting California.

"We are gearing up for the NCS championship game," Coach Angelo Scavone said. "The Falcons have worked themselves into this game and are looking forward to it."

Amador, ranked No. 1, played James Logan High School the same day of the Foothill-Cal game. Amador breezed to a 5-1 win, setting up a historic all-Pleasanton battle for the championship title.

This is the first time Foothill has made it to the NSC finals and the first time two Pleasanton teams have competed for the championship.

Falcon fans are urged to wear their best and brightest school colors to pack the stands as Foothill takes on Amador in Saturday's epic battle for the North Coast title.
