Foothill Student Honored by Local Media

Senior Druthi Ghanta has been honored by a Bay Area television news station as part of its top scholars recognition program.

Druthi is the only Tri-Valley student honored in the ABC7 Top Scholar program. She is among six Bay Area students recognized for their exemplary skills in presentation, writing and leadership.

Each student gets a $1,000 college scholarship and is featured in the station's half-hour broadcast, ABC7 Top Scholars.

The story of one scholar will air each Friday for six consecutive weeks on View From The Bay, starting on June 11. The show airs at 3 p.m. on ABC7. In late July, the station will have a half-hour special featuring the stories of all six winners. Click here for more details.

Some of Druthi's achievements that helped her procure the Top Scholars honor include organizing a Bay Area Best Buddies festival at Foothill in May, attending the 2010 annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology in Toronto in April, being selected as a finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search and being accepted to multiple top-tier colleges.

Congratulations for this great honor, Druthi!
