3/12/30 Message from Foothill Administration

Good Afternoon Foothill Students and Families,

We wanted to provide an important update related to our bell schedule for the next few weeks.  We have to postpone the statewide testing at this time due to the uncertainty related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.  We will be on our regular bell schedule moving forward and will work with our staff to identify some future dates to schedule the CAASPP testing.  The Wheels Bus schedule will be back on the regular schedule as they normally run for Foothill. Once we have more information we will share any updates with you all.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility in these uncertain times. So, again, Monday and everyday next week will be back to our normal schedule, and not a block schedule.

We also wanted to provide some additional information related to the latest update that was sent to everyone yesterday and how it impacts Foothill High School.  The letter that was sent out yesterday is attached in case you didn’t get a chance to read it.

As for Foothill, we have had to modify, postpone or cancel some events and activities.  As shared previously, we get our guidance from the Alameda County Public Health Department about any modifications or changes to the school structure, including school events, and that information is then processed at the district level.

Field Trips - All field trips that had been planned between now and the end of Spring Break have been cancelled.  In some cases those trips can possibly be rescheduled, but it depends on the planned event.

School Assemblies/Rally - We had to postpone our MCC Rally, as previously shared.  There are no other school wide assemblies or rallies between now and the end of Spring Break.

Dances - Junior Prom, which was scheduled for March 21st, has been postponed.  We are looking at later dates in April to see if we can secure some possible dates to hold.  We will have to reassess after Spring Break to determine if there are continued restrictions and determine next steps.

Athletic Events - Athletic events still continue as scheduled for league competitions, but we are asking families to respect the request to stay under 100 spectators, per County Health Guidelines.  Athletic events that are taking place in Livermore, San Ramon schools and other areas of Contra Costa County has stated that no spectators are allowed at events. We were scheduled to host the Foothill Relays on March 28th, but we have to cancel that event since it was bringing a lot of athletes and families from around the area to compete so following guidance, it has been cancelled.

Music Events - Winter Percussion and Winter Guard seasons have been modified to conclude next week, following guidelines put in place by the County Health Department and PUSD.  The large event that was scheduled for March 28th here at Foothill has been cancelled.

Foothill and Amador Spring Musical - The musical is still scheduled but there is a limit of 100 spectators each showing.  Tickets are already sold out for this weekend’s shows, but tickets are still available for next weekend and can be found through the FireHouse Arts Center.

Parent Evening Gatherings - We can still hold our scheduled PTSA general meeting next week on Wednesday March 18th at 7:00pm in C-6.

Visitors and Volunteers on Campus - Until the restriction is lifted, we are not allowed to have any visitors, including guest speakers, and visitors on campus.  Parents/Guardians can still come to campus to attend IEP, 504, SST, and SART meetings as scheduled.

Campus Access - As per the letter, we are asking parents and guardians to stay off campus to pick up their students.  We don’t have gates, as most campuses do, so we ask that everyone please help us in respecting this request and stay off campus and wait for their student.

As more information becomes available we will share those updates with you.  As usual, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We are here to help us much as we can in this difficult times.

Sincerely,
Foothill Administration (Amber Carrion, Jennifer Friesen, Malcolm Norrington, Joseph Viviani, and Sebastian Bull)
