We strive to provide students with effective, accessible counseling services for academic, social/emotional, and career planning issues. As counselors, we understand that high school can be a challenging time for students on many levels. Common concerns for which students regularly seek our assistance include:

SENIORS WITH COLLEGE APPLICATION DEADLINES

Below is a list of the upcoming private and out-of-state college application deadlines and the deadlines that students must submit all supporting materials to their counselor (FHS Secondary School Report Mailing List, FHS Secondary School Report, Student Information Sheet (brag sheet), and send Counselor request on Common App).  For all colleges NOT on Common App, students must request transcripts from the Registrar for EACH college and provide a stamp-addressed envelopes for EACH college to their counselor as well.  See the Private & Out-of-State Instructions checklist handout for more details (accessible for download on SENIORS tab to right of this page).  

Dec. 15th deadlinepackets due to Counselor by Dec. 1st

PSAT Scores Are Now Available!

Students who provided their email address on their PSAT/NMSQT answer sheet will receive an email reminder explaining how to view their scores online.  For any difficulties accessing scores, students can seek out their counselor for support.

FREE Tutoring in the Library

On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m., FREE tutoring is now available in the FHS Library.  Tutoring for math from algebra I through pre-calculus is available as well as tutoring for science in biology and chemistry.  Print the flyer below for easy access to details.  Drop-in for help or, better yet, come get started on homework and get help as needed!

Earn College Credit on Tri-Valley High School Campuses

Las Positas Community College is offering college classes at a number of high schools throughout the Tri-Valley.  See the attached flier for course offerings, locations, and how to enroll.  Spring 2017 session is from January 17, 2017 through May 26th.  See flyer below!

Middle College Student and Family Information Night - Thurs, Jan. 19th

The Middle College High School program at Las Positas College is an alternative education program that provides high school students the opportunity to complete their last two years of high school at Las Positas College, earning high school and college credit simultaneously.  There is a Student and Family Information Night for Pleasanton Unified School District on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.  The meeting will be held at Las Positas College in Room 2420.  For more information go to www.tvrop.org or contact Amy Brown at abrown@laspositascollege.edu or call 925.424.1806.
 

Need Help Completing FAFSA and Dream Act Online Applications? (January 25th)

The Pedrozzi Foundation is offering a Free FAFSA Completion Workshop for families to receive assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Dream Act, and CHAFEE applications.  There will be hands-on help to complete these applications online.  Spanish-speaking assistance will also be available.  The workshop will be held at the Granada High School Library on Wednesday, January 25th from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.  Granada High is located at 400 Wall Street  Livermore, CA  94550.  Print the flyer below and mark your calendar now!  
 

CSU E-Learning Course Registration open until Jan. 27th

This CSU e-learning course is a self--paced online math course that provides a great opportunity for "Conditionally Ready" high school seniors who are not enrolled in an approved math course to fulfill the California State University's Entry Level (ELM) requirement, thereby avoiding remediation in math.  The course is available free of charge for those students that qualify.  The math course is now open for student registration at http://www.csumathsuccess.org/elearning/.  Rolling course enrollment will be available through Friday, January 27, 2017.  See flyer below for more information.
