FIRST DAY OF OFFICIAL PRACTICE: Monday, August 15th 3:05 PM
It is very important for athletes to train over the summer to build their mileage for the fall season. Everything over summer is optional and has no impact on team standing. However, without doing the miles and getting ready during the summer, athletes will be at a severe disadvantage when practice officially starts in August. A few items to help with that:
- Summer Training Program - Thanks to Coach Thornberry, here is an updated training schedule to help beginners, intermediate and advanced runners in the program this summer. Make sure that you do not try to do too much over the summer. The most important part of summer training is to get out and RUN!
- Summer Group Running - If you want to form a small group to run with that will definitely help make logging the miles easier. There will also be a group getting together Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 8 AM STARTING JUNE 13 in the Senior Parking Lot to go run together. We will also post additional meetups on the team Facebook page for other get togethers and runs.
- Summer running diary - We are asking all athletes to post their training diary of their summer work on our xcstats.com site. If you have not joined already, follow the instructions on this handout and use the registration code falcons! . This will help keep you honest with your training and it will allow the coaches to see how our athletes are getting ready for the fall.
