If your student needs to leave campus while school is in session, the parent or guardian is to call the 24-hour attendance line (925-461-6686) before the student needs to leave. This message can be left as early as 3 p.m. the day before and throughout the night on the 24-hour line. Students are responsible for coming to the attendance office to pick up their pass before going to the class from which they will need to leave. Once a student has the pass, they show it to their teacher and can exit campus. Students leaving campus without a pass from the attendance office will receive a Saturday school. When you call, please leave the following information:
Early Dismissal Due to IllnessIf your student becomes ill during the school day, they are to go to the health office to call a parent or guardian to get permission to leave campus. Students are not to leave campus when they are ill without checking out with the health office. Ill students leaving campus without a pass from the health office will receive a Saturday school.
To clear an absence, early dismissal or late arrival, a parent or guardian must call the 24-hour attendance line at 925-461-6686 and choose partial day absence (option 2). We do not accept notes or e-mails in high school to request and/or clear absences, early dismissals or late arrivals.
This is a 24-hour phone line, so calls can be made any time of the day or night. Every absence or tardy of any kind must be cleared by a parent or legal guardian within 72 hours or absences are considered “cuts” and are subject to disciplinary action.
If you receive an automated call stating that your student was absent for one or more periods, please check Q Connection to see the period/class in which the student was marked absent. If the absence was during the middle of the school day, the student must come to the attendance office to get an attendance correction form. This form is taken to the teacher, who will decide if the marked absence was an error, your student was tardy or your student came into class with a pass. Once the teacher has filled out and signed the form, the student takes the form to attendance. Students have one week to get this accomplished.
Truancy & Excessive Absences
An important part of academic success is good attendance. The school district has an attendance protocol to track truancy and excessive absences. Parents will be notified if students have a certain number of unexcused absences or an excessive number of excused absences.
Please see the attendance guidelines file below for the attendance protocol.
